We deliver unbiased justice with a firm but most-a'-tha'-time friendly hand; loved by some, respected by most an' hated by a couple a´ misguided miscreant types. We're tha' incorruptible deliverers a' reparation, guiders of tha' law, chasers' a criminals, drinkers a' coffee an' partakers of laps if we ain't doin' it right. We're tha' presence on tha' streets, tha' comfort to tha' innocent, tha' gleaming beacon a' hope for that wee little Gnome that just keeps gettin' pickpocketted, 'though you think he'd've learnt by now. Our uniform strikes a cold note a' fear inta' tha' smarter of tha' criminals and brings with it hard-earned respect from years patrollin' our names inta' these damned streets. Make it good. We're tha' only thing some a' these citizens can count on.

An' it's even bloody harder bein' tha' plebian of tha' force, tha' one with tha' brown sleeves, tha' ever-present Lance-Constable. You're tha' coffee wench, tha' filer a' those reports no one wants ta' touch, tha' one Brightstream sends on twenty laps fa' not salutin' quite right. It's a strain, shan't lie; 'ah worked five night shifts in ma' first week in tha' Watch, had ma' nose broken twice in tha' first month, had ta' learn how my every superior liked their coffee. An' it's always coffee, make no damned mistake; no one never got nowhere drinkin' that Lights-bedamned heathenous other brew.

If ya' don't beat Watch protocol inta' El-Cees with brutal efficiency, ya' get an inept force a' tools. We work 'em hard ta' make 'em better. They say it gets easier as ya' work ya' way up, but that ain't always tha' case. Responsibility's bloody hard work, but you've gotta' be tha' change you wanna' see in tha' world. So ya' go forth, sleeves flashin', an' ya' make of this City what ya' will. It's hard work but, by tha' Light, someone's gotta' do it.

So aye, 'ah shan't lie. It's a harsh job, ain't much congratulation and ya' earn ya' monthly wages. But tha' nod a' respect from a lieutenant, tha' glimmer of hope in a victim's eyes, tha' knowledge there's one less scumbag on tha' streets, tha' firm handshake from tha' Captain herself...

Watchmen are required to follow the ‘Three D’s’. These three goals are what every good Watchman strives towards in their job. The ‘Three D’s’ have been enforced since the City Watch was founded many years ago, and are as follows:

Discipline

Following orders and showing respect to those above you in rank. If your Captain orders you to jump, you do it. If your Captain tells you to draw your sword and charge into battle, you do it. If your Captain tells you to pop down the local Pandaren Takeaway for a box of chilli-noodles and Kodo-Nuggets, you do it.

Dedication


Being dedicated to your job as a Watchman, and above all being dedicated to the law itself. Watchmen must be dedicated to all aspects of their job, whether it be chasing down criminals on the mean streets of Old Town or being vomited on by a staggering drunk in the Pig and Whistle.

Doliteness


Being nice and polite to others. Any new recruits who question the spelling of Doliteness are bundled into a sack and never heard from again.

The Watch operates on a strict system of ranks, with a Watchman's rank denoted by the colour of the sleeves they wear.

The Stormwind City Watch was ostensibly created to protect the people of Stormwind City and uphold a semblance of law and order; while its founder was eventually found to be corrupt, today those ideals are still upheld. Shakily. Watchmen are now part of the furniture in Stormwind City, and are easily recgonised by their distinctive blue uniforms and their abundant cynicism.

The Watch has passed through a long line of Captainships: Nath Shadoweyes, Bronkar Caerandon, Baugi Haugspori, Carinia Stormshadow, Niars Tydus, Kiach Ideon, Kyrisha Fayth, Darsol Shadowstar and the current Captain, Jhenevieve McKenzie have all led the Watch at one point. They continue to follow the same task: upholding the Laws of Stormwind City.
